Concrete Forms: A Study in Brutalism
In Concrete Forms, Robertson invites viewers to see the monumental in the minimal, revealing the poetry within structure and the art within architecture.

This exhibition presents a series of six acrylic paintings
On canvas, each inspired by the integrity of brutalist architecture. Through refined layers of texture, tone, and form, Robertson celebrates the raw simplicity of concrete and the material honesty that defines this historically relevant architectural movement.
Set within an industrial warehouse space, the exhibition resonates deeply with its surroundings an environment that mirrors the structural clarity and purposeful design central to both brutalism and practice. From numerical abstractions to direct references to The Stonebow a defining brutalist landmark in York and a cornerstone of Robertson’s Fine Art BA (Hons) education these works embody the dialogue between construction, material, and meaning.
